Here we are with another impressive world record that is taking DDR5 memory speed closer to 13000 MT/s. While it will still take some time and quite a good amount of effort to break that mark, it looks like it isn't impossible now. Hicookie's DDR5 overclocking result has achieved a new height by breaking through the 12700 MT/s mark, which is the first.

The overclocker has been making some excellent progress on the Intel Z890 platform, making new records every week. The latest one was made with the V-Color Manta Xfinity RGB DDR5 memory on the Gigabyte Z890 AORUS Tachyon ICE motherboard. Hicookie used the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and liquid nitrogen-cooled single 24 GB memory module to achieve a memory frequency of 6363 MHz or 12726 MT/s. This replaces the previous world record by Splave, who pushed a G.Skill Trident Z5 memory to 12698 MT/s.

Gigabyte proudly boasts the results in a press release, calling its Z890 AORUS Tachyon ICE a motherboard designed 'exclusively for overclocking enthusiasts'. The Z890 AORUS Tachyon ICE was one of the first to achieve over 10,000 MT/s DDR5 memory speed and, surprisingly, it was Hicookie who used the same configuration a few months back. However, the memory latency has also increased drastically, which is obvious. At CL 68-127-127-254, don't expect the memory to offer any noticeable uplifts over 10000 MT/s achieved at CL 48-58-58-140.

It's rather a hobby for overclocking enthusiasts like Hicookie to compete with other world-class overclockers. Still, Hicookie was able to break three world records of 3DMark CPU Profile 1T/2T/8T with a 12726 MT/s memory speed. At this pace, expect other overclockers to achieve even higher memory speeds in the coming weeks and, eventually, we could reach 13000 MT/s.
